One A.M.

As the clock struck one in the morning, the city was asleep. The streets were quiet, and the only sounds that could be heard were the footsteps of an unknown stranger walking down the deserted pavement. The stranger was dressed in a black suit, his face obscured by the shadows. He walked with purpose, as if he knew exactly where he was going.

As he turned the corner, the stranger came across a grand old mansion. It was an impressive building with a high fence surrounding it. He climbed the fence with ease and landed quietly on the other side. He walked towards the house, and as he approached the front door, he saw a sign that read “For Sale.” The stranger knew that this was his chance.

He opened the door and entered the empty mansion. As he walked around, he noticed the grandeur of the place. The chandeliers were still hanging from the ceiling, and the paintings on the walls were still intact. But there was something strange about the mansion, something eerie that made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.

As the stranger walked towards the main hall, he heard a creaking sound. He turned around but saw nothing. He continued walking, all the while feeling an uneasiness in his gut. Suddenly, he heard a loud crash. He turned around and saw that a vase had fallen from a table. He looked around, but there was nobody there. He couldn’t understand what was happening.

As he walked towards the staircase, he felt a cold breath on the back of his neck. He turned around, but there was no one there. He started climbing the stairs, but the staircase seemed to go on forever. He felt as if he was walking in circles, getting nowhere. Suddenly, he heard a voice whispering his name. He tried to run, but his legs wouldn’t move.

Finally, he reached the top of the stairs, and there he saw a dark figure standing at the end of the hallway. It was a woman dressed in a white gown, her hair flowing down her back. She beckoned to him, and the stranger felt a strange attraction towards her. He walked towards her, and as he got closer, he saw that her eyes were as black as coal.

The woman spoke in a low, whispering voice. “Welcome to my home,” she said. “I have been waiting for you.”

The stranger couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He tried to speak, but no words came out. The woman smiled and giggled, her eyes shining with an eerie glow.

“Who are you?” the stranger managed to ask.

“I am the mistress of this house,” the woman answered. “And you, my dear, are the new owner.”

The stranger couldn’t believe his ears. He had just stumbled upon a haunted mansion, and now he was supposed to be the owner? He tried to run, but his legs wouldn’t move. He was trapped, and there was no escape.

The woman led him to a room, and there, she revealed a secret. In the center of the room, there was a chest filled with gold. The woman smiled and gestured for the stranger to open it.

As he opened the chest, a blinding light filled the room. The stranger felt a sudden shock, and he collapsed to the floor. When he came to, he saw that the woman was gone, and the chest had disappeared.

The stranger realized that he had been tricked. He had fallen victim to an elaborate scheme to steal his money, and he had no way out.

As he stumbled through the mansion, he heard strange noises and saw the ghostly figures of previous owners wandering the halls. He tried to escape, but the mansion seemed to be alive, moving deliberately to trap him in its clutches.

In the end, the stranger was never seen again. Some say he was trapped inside the mansion, forever lost in its dark, twisted world. Others speculate that he escaped, but was never the same again, haunted by the memories of that one fateful night.

Regardless of what happened to him, one thing is certain – the stranger’s encounter with the mansion at One A.M. was one he would never forget.
